Q: filtering large popup lists by typing a few characters to remove list entries

I am using a recent nightly build.

I really like the “adaptive filter” built-in support for grids. I was hoping to also find support for filtering large popup lists by typing a character or two. Any popup list items not beginning with the typed characters would disappear from the list. I carefully went through the showcase examples looking for something similar but could not find anything.

Menu lists do have the built in feature of skipping forward in a menu when a character is typed - nice, but not what I need.

Instead of looking through the showcase examples a second time, I thought I would just ask for a reference.

I used to code this by hand in Rails with a filtering controller and a bit of Javascript. I think that I am starting to understand SmartGWT well enough to write this from scratch but I would like to avoid ‘reinventing the wheel’ if possible.

Thanks,
Mark

See ComboBox.optionDataSource - samples in Showcase under ComboBox.

Thanks, that was just what I was looking for.
