Problem with tabIndex on RTF: explicitly specified tabIndex [undefined]

Hello Isomorphic,

im getting this strange error on my forms. I don’t understand it as i have not set the tabIndex on the RichTextItem and it only pops up this javascript error when RichTextItems are involved, every other form item works just fine.

Thank you very much.

SmartGwt: 2.4

00:52:13.200 [ERROR] 11:17:38.124:MUP6:WARN:DynamicForm:isc_DynamicForm_36:$sq() attempting to set tab index adjacent to widget [RichTextCanvas ID:isc_RichTextItem_32$21b_editArea] with explicitly specified tabIndex [undefined]. This method can only manipulate widgets with auto-assigned tab indexes.

I am also getting a similar exception everytime I add a RichTextArea

We’re looking for a minimal standalone test case that reproduces this.

I don’t have a simple test case but will try to put one together on monday.

Well, in fact the whole thing is that i have 4 forms that only contain a TextItem and a RichTextItem and a script that takes the 4 forms as parameters and creates a tabSet and puts each form on a separate tab. Thats it.

public class test implements EntryPoint {

  public void onModuleLoad() {
	  final TabSet topTabSet = new TabSet();
      topTabSet.setTabBarPosition(Side.TOP);
      topTabSet.setWidth(400);
      topTabSet.setHeight(200);

      Tab tTab1 = new Tab("Blue");

      DynamicForm form1 = new DynamicForm();
      RichTextItem item1= new RichTextItem();
      item1.setName("item1");
      item1.setShowTitle(Boolean.TRUE);
      item1.setTitle("Editor 1");
      form1.setFields(new FormItem[]{item1});
      tTab1.setPane(form1);

      Tab tTab2 = new Tab("Green");
      DynamicForm form2 = new DynamicForm();
      RichTextItem item2= new RichTextItem();
      item2.setName("item2");
      item2.setShowTitle(Boolean.TRUE);
      item2.setTitle("Editor 2");
      form2.setFields(new FormItem[]{item2});
      tTab2.setPane(form2);

      topTabSet.addTab(tTab1);
      topTabSet.addTab(tTab2);

      VLayout vLayout = new VLayout();
      vLayout.setMembersMargin(15);
      vLayout.addMember(topTabSet);
      vLayout.setHeight("auto");

      vLayout.draw();
  }
}

Hi
We see the issue and will be fixing it in the near future.

One note: this warning in itself should be harmless - it’s not a JavaScript error - it’s simply a warning in the logs, which is also recorded at the “Error” level in the Eclipse development mode logs.
Are you also seeing broken tab-order behavior when this occurs, or any other bad side effects?

Thanks
Isomorphic Software

the richtextitem in my application seems to be broken. I have attached the screenshot. The tabs seem to work properly.

But, when I prepared the stand alone test case the item rendered correctly so it must not be related to that.

Btw, do you know what would cause the rich text area to render that way? It could be something else or a side effect of this issue?

Not seeing any side efects in 2.3 in 2.4 pops up a javascript error window.

Once the elements are drawn for the first time, the errors don’t appear again.

mpet: When you say “javascript error window” - you’re referring to an alert containing a warning about a JavaScript runtime exception or similar, right? We haven’t seen this. If you can show us a standalone test case where this occurs we’ll take a look.

nehaverma8: This looks like an odd skinning setting. Ensure you’re loading the same skin in your standalone test case as in your live application. Check for external CSS in your live app. If there’s a DOCTYPE specification in your bootstrap file, try removing it.
Beyond that, we’d probably have to see this happening in a test case to comment further.

Maybe I could send you screenshot if you could send me answer on how to use java.io.InputStream on my Entity (that you adviced me to use in conjuction with ViewFile operation in other thread and that is producing error - [ERROR] Line 60: No source code is available for type java.io.ByteArrayInputStream; did you forget to inherit a required module?)

Thanks.

You are right it is only warning, the popups were there probably only because some debuging settings in developers console ? Idk. now they are gone.
