listGrid time field default sort

My web site is being accessed from the Eastern Time Zone. I have a listGrid with a time field. The field displays local time. I am using a REST datasource and php on the server side. When I enter the dates in Eastern time, they are being sent to the server as UTC time (+4 Hours compared to Eastern time). The time show correctly in the listGrid, but when I sort, it sorts as follows:

8:00 PM - (UTC 00:00:00)
trough
11:59 PM - (UTC 03:59:00)
00:00 AM - (UTC 04:00:00)
through
07:59 PM - (UTC 23:59:00)

How do I make the time column sort by the displayed time and not the UTC time so that 8:00 PM through 11:59 PM sort after 7:59 PM and not first?!

Am I not clear on what the issue is? Do I need to reply with more detail than I have already provided? This issue has become a show stopper…

Clear enough and it’s been noted as something we’d like to fix. However it could never be a showstopper, since you already have the ability to control the sort (sortNormalizer).

I have been trying to get that to work as well. Now that I know this is a real issue and that the sortNormalizer should work for me, I can focus my efforts. I appreciate the response…

Using the sortNormalizer, I am able to sort the time column appropriately when I only sort by the time column. Now, how do I do this with the multi sort?

On review there seems to be something wrong with your usage. If you have declared the field type as just time, not datetime, then you should not see this sort problem. If you are using the field as datetime but trying to store just time values, this is bad usage and you should switch to “time” as the field type, otherwise, the date portion of the value will not be ignored (and will influence sorts and other operations, as you’ve seen)
