how to join tables via SQL persistence mechanism

I have just bought a Pro license for SmartGWT 2.3. It is amazing how simple to bind DataSource to SQL table via Visual Builder/Admin Console, but two questions here:

  1. how do I create a DataSource by joining two or more tables?

  2. How do I set <ValueMap> in *.ds.xml from a database query instead of a hardcoded list?

First, be sure to read the QuickStart Guide - point 1 is covered in detail in Chapter 8. For point 2, use optionDataSource - see FormItem/SelectItem optionDataSource and also ListGridField.optionDataSource.

For the first question, I know how to join tables via a customized Java Object on the server side. I want to know if you have built-in SQL persistence mechanism for joining tables.

Thanks for answer of the second question, now I know how to build dynamic multiple choice <valueMap>.

Yes - an in-depth answer to your first question is in the previously indicated chapter in the QuickStart Guide, especially the section on SQL templating. Look at all referenced samples and further documentation as well.

It should be pointed out that this person has a pro license and according to the license feature array, sql templating is not available in the Pro edition.
